The appendices of the ASME Y14.5.2-2000 GDTP Certification Standard list the Body of knowledge upon which the Technologist level (Appendix A) and the Senior level (Appendix B) certification examinations are based.

The topics listed within each body of knowledge correspond directly to subjects contained in the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Standard. Therefore, certification examination questions have been written so that the technical content is linked between the ASME Y14.5.2-2000 Body of Knowledge and a relevant section of the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Standard.

Some GD&T professionals that have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing may have difficulty passing the GDTP Certification examinations. This problem can usually be traced to not having studied the definitions and principles directly from the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Standard. Therefore, it is important that each applicant preparing for GDTP Certification study for the examination using the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Standard together with the appropriate ASME Y14.5.2-2000 Body of Knowledge.
