The Editorial Board consists of the Editor and all serving Associate Editors. When a new paper is received, the Editor selects an Associate Editor for handling the papers based on technical area and workload. The Associate Editor is responsible for selecting reviewers, managing the review process and making a recommendation to the Editor on acceptance of the papers.
As per ASME policy, the term of service for the Editor is five years. The Editor may serve an additional five year term, at the discretion of ASME's publication committee. The term of service for Associate Editors is three years but they may be re-appointed for one additional three year term. In order to maintain the highest level of quality, ASME has set strict guidelines for AE qualifications and appointment procedures. Associate Editors are selected after careful review at three levels: Editor, Advisory Board and ASME Publication Committee.
