This paper focuses on primary resonance of one degree of freedom oscillator with a spring made of shape memory alloy. The resonance is analysed by means of the multiple time scales method and the harmonic balance method. The shape memory spring is described by a five-th order polynomial function. The solutions are confronted with the results reported by another authors and compared with numerical simulations. Three ranges of temperature are analysed and and an influence of nonlinear coefficients on the primary resonance is discussed. Finally, the practical implementation aspect of the system is discussed as a simple model of the human middle ear with shape memory prosthesis.
