The subsurface reconnaissance survey can play an important part in providing information useful to those concerned with the location, design and construction of engineering works. Geophysics has provided us with new and useful tools well adapted for use in such preliminary investigations of the subsurface, providing fairly detailed information about subsurface conditions when used in conjunction with a limited number of judiciously placed drill holes or test pits.
