A design system for heavily loaded, slow moving, grease lubricated plain bearings has been developed. The system is based on frictional input and dissipation analysis combined with experimental data. P-V design charts have been developed which show regions of high friction, excessive bearing temperature, high wear, and moderate wear. The information presented in the design charts compares well with full bearing test results.
