Appropriate design criteria need to be established for this new structural sealant application to ensure curtain wall safety and performance. This paper describes methods of adhering stone panels to a building framework with silicone sealant with emphasis on joint design and special considerations for stone substrates. The paper also explains the testing used to warrant adhesion and compatibility and the application techniques necessary for a quality installation.
