The use of fabric filtration for controlling particulate emissions from power generating plants has proven effective, both technically and economically. In most installations, the collection efficiency of these systems is much better than is required by law. Recent developments have centered on improvements in methods for removing collected ash (dustcake) from filter bags, applications in integrated emissions control systems, and studies leading toward a better understanding of the fundamental processes involved.
