The growth and development of reduced tillage has been quite dramatic. In the United States, Australia/New Zealand, Canada and Europe, farming practices have changed significantly to adopt new equipment, herbicides, crop varieties and fertilizer applications. Simultaneously, a change that has dramatically affected herbicide use is low volume applications. Aerial application, low volume hydraulic nozzles, and controlled-droplet applicators are means by which low volume application can be achieved. Research conducted with reduced carrier volumes has led to the use of reduced rates of Roundup® herbicide in annual and perennial weed markets.
