The functional principles of lock-strip gasket glazing are described and illustrated. Critical factors affecting performance as related to air infiltration, water penetration, structural capacity, and durability are analyzed, and present test methods for evaluating performance of the gasket as a component as well as glazed assemblies are enumerated. New test methods being developed are also described and the need for additional test methods is emphasized.
