Three problems dealing with the interaction of cracks with rigid cylindrical inclusions are considered for the case of longitudinal shear deformation. An accurate approximate solution is derived for a crack perpendicular to the line of centers and midway between the two inclusions. Also, two simple closed form solutions are presented for a rigid fiber imperfectly bonded to the matrix. Application of the results to fracture of composite materials is considered.
