Some of the more recent contributions in nuclear magnetic resonance instrumentation, structure determinations, and characterizations pertinent to petroleum and petroleum products are reviewed. A projection of future analytical developments is made with detailed discussions on, (1) the application of molecular interactions to extend identification and characterization of liquid hydrocarbons, and (2) the possible uses of pulse resonance methods.
