A brief review of lunar base structural concepts is presented followed by a discussion of tensile structural concepts. Specifically, tensile integrity (tensegrity) structures are suggested for study for possible use on the lunar surface due to their efficiencies and advantages. Such application could conceivably be for second generation structures. These structures, like pneumatic and truss structures, are self-sustaining and can be designed not to require any significant foundation structure. One exciting advantage of the class of structure discussed here is the possibility of designing deployable versions.
