The assumption of an irrotational displacement field leads to an exact solution (within the framework of linear elastokinetics) for radial and axial displacement components in a solid, linearly elastic, right circular cylinder having a rigid-lubricated lateral and end boundary. The other end boundary undergoes a prescribed radial and time-dependent axial displacement. Numerical results are obtained for some simpler cases of boundary loading.
