A one-dimensional theory of the performance of a crossed-field, magneto-aerodynamic accelerator is presented and the results are summarized in the form of design charts. With the aid of these charts, the synthesis characteristics of engineering applications may readily be accomplished, utilizing graphical construction techniques. Design charts are available which cover a range of initial Mach numbers of 0.1 to 0.9 in intervals of 0.1 and 2 to 10 in intervals of 1. Design charts for initial Mach numbers of 0.5 and 2 are presented herein and their utility is demonstrated with reference to several numerical examples.
