Abstract

The problem of the flow through a long unbranched pipe with uniformly spaced orifices presents some undesirable mathematical difficulties. These can be avoided by solving the related problem of the flow through a pipe with a porous wall. The differential equations for the pressure drop and flow are derived and the relation between them is indicated. A solution for the flow is obtained in terms of elliptic functions in such form that numerical results can be obtained readily from existing tables.
