A coupled Euler-Bernoulli model of laminated piezoelectric beam is proposed. The enhanced model accounts for the effects of 3D distribution of mechanical stress and strain and the induced electric potential. The model is tested by means of numerical simulations and static and dynamical experimental tests. Applications to the distributed actuation of bistable devices by piezoelectric elements is reported as well. The model consists in an elastic buckled beam equipped with piezoelectric actuators. The model is mainly based on extensible elastica for a piezoelectric sandwich beam. The stability of the snap-through phenomenon is then controlled by two paramerters of actuation (electric potentials).
