The lymphatic system plays a vital role in maintaining fluid homeostasis. It is responsible for the uptake and return of large particulates and extravasated proteins from interstitial spaces to the venous system. Its dysfunction could result in extracellular edema [1]. It also plays an important role in the immune system and is often the route of metastasis for certain types of cancers.
