Effects of Endovascular Graft Morphology on the Migration Force

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a result of the enlargement of the infra-renal aorta, expanding to a diameter of greater than 29 mm, or 1.5 times the diameter of the normal aorta. AAAs affect about 0.4% of people older than 50 years old; annually approximately 15,000 people die of aneurysm rupture [1,2]. For aneurysms less than 50 mm in diameter, the risk of rupture ranged from 0–2.3% per year, and for AAAs greater than 50 mm in diameter, the risk is 5–9% per year. However, 55 mm is the critical diameter for elective repair [3].
