Lumbo-pelvic fixation in cases involving total resection of the sacral vertebrae is difficult to achieve. Total sacrectomy results in enormous osseous and soft tissue defects as well as mechanical instabilities. Restoration of continuity and stability to the pelvic ring and spinal column is necessary for ambulation, and to enable patients to resume daily living activities sooner during rehabilitation.
