The dynamics of a 2d-hydrofoil section immersed in inhomogeneous density flows is studied. A model based on a decomposition of the fluid variables (velocity and pressure) into two components is used. The first components describe the flow of the fluid around the hydrofoil while the second ones are related to the flow generated by the vibration. The linearized equations governing the flow induced by the vibration of the structure are then obtained. The effect on the structure dynamics of the fluid mass density variation at the fluid-structure interface is studied. The results are compared to the homogeneous flow case and analyzed.
