This paper examines current industry efforts to introduce bolted joint assembler standardized training and qualification. Efforts on an international level are examined and the likelihood of success and the barriers to implementation are detailed. In addition, several models for establishing assembler qualifications are examined and comparatively discussed for both likelihood of implementation and, more importantly, likelihood of success in reducing bolted joint integrity issues via assembler qualification.
