Charpy impact tests at different temperatures were carried out with both API X80 and X70 linepipes. The influence of different strikers on impact absorbed energies of API X80 and X70 longitudinal seam submerged-arc welded (LSAW) line pipes were studied. The results indicate that impact absorbed energies tested with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard striker (8mm radius) are higher than those with Chinese standard striker (2mm radius). The higher the impact absorbed energies, the bigger the difference between them. In addition, the difference between impact absorbed energies gradually decreased as test temperature reduced. It was found that the impact absorbed energies of specimens tested with ASTM standard striker were more susceptible to change of test temperatures than those with Chinese standard striker. The Charpy impact energy curves of samples tested with ASTM striker presented part of transition zone and the upper shelf energy (USE), but the curves for tests using Chinese standard striker showed only the USE.
