Gaskets play an important role in the sealing performance of tube-shell joint, and their behavior is complex due to nonlinear material properties. A three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA) of two-gasket sealing structure of tube-shell joint has been carried out. The loading and unloading characteristics of the gaskets were obtained by experiments. Several combinations of pre-tightening force and internal pressure were considered for finding the sealing and strength conditions simultaneously. After calculation and analysis, the appropriate pre-tightening force and the distribution contour of Von-Mises stress, axial displacement and the gasket pressure of the connect components were obtained. At last, a simplified method to find appropriate pre-tightening based on force analysis and diagrammatic method are presented and discussed.
