A novel type of Bolted Flanged Connection based on inverse flexion flange design and bolted fasteners and gasket with cores of shape memory alloy displaying “negative creep effect” is examined. The clamping forces resulting from bolt preload and from interaction of bolts and gasket with rigidly fixed outer end of flange rings inhibit a flange rotation and create a high leak-tight joint which can maintain significant increase of internal pressure under conditions of a variety of operating temperatures relating to critical engineering applications.
