In an attempt to support the ongoing effort on hydrogen fuel infrastructure in USA, a need has been identified for ASME Code rules for 15,000 psi gaseous hydrogen vessels for stationary storage as well as transport applications. This paper presents a review of existing rules which are being used in the design and manufacture of high pressure hydrogen vessels. The applicable rules given in the ASME Section VIII Code and the rules given in the DOT, ISO and NGV standards have been reviewed. Limitations on the materials, design, and manufacturing for 15,000 psi vessels are discussed.
