The recent ASME RAM-1-2013 Standard provided high-level guidance for the development of a Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) Program for power plants and critical facilities. The intentional vagueness of the standard permitted a large scope of different power plants and critical facilities over a wide variety of applications. Even though this allowed for the most freedom in customization in developing a RAM Program, it provided little specific guidance on exactly how to do it. This paper provides some of the specific industry techniques that can be used as direct guidance to develop the various aspects of a RAM Program.
