The challenge of plant engineers, operators, and chemical engineers is to select a tube material for various heat exchangers in nuclear or fossil power plants that will survive various and possibly changing fluid chemistries. This paper will provide a brief method of calculating the effect of changing materials when retubing a heat exchanger. It will also provide some samples of typical effects.
