Abstract

Floating platforms equipped with multiple moonpools offer tremendous potential for applications in advanced offshore aquaculture. This paper investigates the hydrodynamics of a floating platform equipped with multiple moonpools, highlighting their promising applications in advanced offshore aquaculture. Utilizing an in-house linear potential-flow solver, a thorough analysis of a floating platform integrated with an array of moonpools is conducted. The investigation includes a detailed comparative study on the hydrodynamic behaviour of platforms with and without moonpools, providing the physical explanations governing the observed distinctions. Additionally, we explore wave resonance phenomena within the moonpools and the impact of the configurations on the resonance behaviour is illustrated.
