Feasibility of Peltier element device for monitoring hydrate safety margin was experimentally investigated; alongside, cooling capability of the Peltier device. Freezing point depressions of aqueous alcohol solutions were measured using the device. Results showed that device is able to freeze aqueous ethylene glycol and methanol solutions in a few minutes, up to 35 mass% of ethylene glycol, 30 mass% of methanol. Measured freezing point depressions well matched the predicted. Methane hydrate phase boundary was determined using the previously developed correlation based on the measured freezing point depressions, which is in line with the predicted one in an acceptable deviation range.
