Material properties requirements specified in codes, standards and classification society rules for mobile installations differ and a study was undertaken to identify current limitations and evaluation the effects on flaw tolerance. This paper summarises the results of the study and provides recommendations for maintaining a constant flaw tolerance as yield strength is increased.
