Because of the larger sizes of modern service vessels, a collision between one of these units and a FPSO may cause severe damages which can threaten the FPSO’s overall hull girder capacity to withstand the operational and environmental loads. The present work addresses these issues by investigating the global residual strength of the hull girder after representative collision damages. The impact on global strength from effects such as the variation in the still water and wave loads due to the flooded condition, local water pressure and top side loads have been evaluated.
