This paper describes additional high temperature mechanical property testing conducted as a continuation of work presented at the 2005 ASME IMECE. Finite element analysis (FEA) computer simulations depend on accurate mechanical property data for determination of the thermo-mechanical properties of wheel designs. Additional creep testing of wheel rim samples was conducted at various temperatures to determine the response of untreated and rim quenched AAR Class C wheel steel. Tests will be described and data from the testing will be reviewed and compared to past research efforts. Implications of the new data for FEA simulations will be discussed.
