Abstract
The long-term health of a surgeon is significantly affected by repetitive tasks and positions assumed during surgery. In order to evaluate neck positions throughout surgery, a novel wireless neck measurement system has been designed and developed. Extension, protraction, and rotation data of the neck are captured with accelerometers and flex sensors. Data is transmitted wirelessly and processed utilizing MATLAB. Sensor results are evaluated and compared with the goal to improve the ergonomic behavior of surgeons.
