Abstract

To realize mass-customization, it is important to have a production planning method that takes into account fluctuations in demand for each product, including customized products, and changes in production conditions. We have proposed a production planning method that takes advantage of the modularity of parts and changes parts allocation based on indicators of due dates and processing progress. In this paper, we propose a production planning method that integrates make-to-stock production for standard products including parts inventory replenishment and order production for customized products that respond to demand fluctuations by changing parts allocation. In the planning phase, the proposed method creates an appropriate processing schedule that takes into account additions to the parts inventory using a combinatorial auction technique. In the operational phase, the proposed method introduces parts allocation from inventory stock and dynamic parts allocation changes for achievement of due date and improvement of production efficacy. Computer experiments are conducted to verify its effectiveness.
