Patients after trauma or tumor removal often require restoration of cranio-maxillo-facial bone functions and aesthetics. Additive manufacturing technologies offer an efficient solution in production of custom-designed implants for specific clinical cases. Their capabilities also allow for manufacturing objects with complex geometries, including tissue engineering scaffolds – implants with internal structure. The paper presents first achievements of a project aimed at design and manufacture of individualized functionalized bone scaffolds for CMF oncological patients. Scaffolds are designed based on data from computed tomography, produced by selective laser melting from Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy powder and enriched with bioactive additives.
