The present work deals with the design methodology of a high efficiency flat plate solar collector to be used in absorption cooling system and for climates like Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Specialized software was used to simulate the thermal behavior of the solar collector and the mechanical stresses. Results such as the optimum thickness of insulation and spacing between the glass and the absorbing surface are given.
