Remote Monitoring of TBG’s Cathodic Protection

This paper describes TBG’s practice in developing and establishing a System to monitor the Cathodic Protection System of the Bolivia Brazil Gas Pipeline. Monitoring is performed by the Central Station located at Rio de Janeiro – RJ – Brazil. The Cathodic Protection System uses 41 Rectifiers, mounted along the gas pipeline and it is responsible to control the electrochemical corrosion caused by the soil. Good performance shown by the system, allows TBG to modify the inspection period from once a week to once a month.
