Abstract

Wheelslip is a measure of the longitudinal slipage between the tire and the ground. Tire forces are a function of wheelslip, and by controlling wheelslip, tire forces can be modified, which in turn, allows the vehicle trajectory to be modified. A general approach is described for determining appropriate wheelslip commands, commands that will produce beneficial effects on the vehicle stability and handling.
