Abstract
In this paper, a case study on the mechanical design and fabrication of Infopad, a multi-media, portable wireless computer is presented. A collaborative design environment that supports the design activities is also briefly described. A particular focus is on the systematic design process and resolving coupling design constraints between mechanical and electrical domains. Some of the design techniques used during the development process are applicable to the collaborative product development for more modular, reconfigurable electromechanical products.
