Abstract
Hydrogels have many medical applications. In this particular case, it is proposed to fabricate a heart valve stent from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The present heart valve stents are made of rigid materials which do not mimic the natural important mechanical properties of the aortic root such as expansibility1. We propose a new heart valve stent which can better mimic the natural mechanical properties of the aortic root.
