Abstract
Laminated composite plates have been treated systematically in our recent book (Yu 1996). In one of the chapters, classical and refined modelings for large deflections of laminates are formulated on the basis of nonlinear elasticity. In a separate chapter, similar modelings for large deflections of piezoelectric plates are dealt with on the basis of both nonlinear elasticity and piezoelectricity. In this paper we carry out a combined treatment of large deflections of laminated composite plates including the piezoelectric effect, through the use of constitutive relations.
