Abstract
In the present paper, the flow of a viscoelastical fluid through a sudden contraction duct was discussed. Based on previous work, the authors proposed some equations for estimating the vortical region length (Lv). The values of the Lv during capillary extrusion of a rubber compound were calculated proximally. It was found that the ratio of Lv to reservoir diameter was about 0.14–0.32, which it was decreased with a rise of temperature or decreasing shear rates.
