A new vortex tube structure with small length-diameter ratio, low resistance coefficient and high efficiency based on the basic structure and principle of the helicopter vortex tube is designed by numerical computation and experimental study in this paper. The average value of error between the resistance experiment and numerical simulation is within 5.6%. This indicates the resistance mathematic model can estimate the resistance of the vortex tube very well. It provided a feasible way for the optimal design of the vortex tube.
