This paper presents an experimental study to investigate the tensile behavior of plain-weave hybrid S2 glass-IM7 graphite fibers/toughened SC-79 resin (cured at 177°C) composite strips. The tests were conducted on hybrid S2 glass-IM7 graphite fibers/toughened SC-79 resin and non-hybrid S2 glass-fiber/toughened SC-79 resin composites strips using a 22-kip MTS servo hydraulic universal testing machine. To use in Finite Element Modeling, the mechanical properties of these composite specimens with four lay-up sequences were determined. It was observed that the hybrid composites mechanical properties were somewhere between those of glass and graphite reinforced composites.
