The purpose of this study is to examine the thermal interactions through both conduction and convection between two unequally powered discrete heat sources in free convection on a vertical plate. The sources are positioned at steadily increasing separation distances. The role of the thermal wake from the downstream component is quantified and is found to have competing influences that can either help or hinder the heat transfer from the upstream component depending on conditions.
