Contact angle as a surface property of the substrate plays a vital role in the process of heterogeneous condensation. This paper deals with the visualization experiments that have been carried out to study the dropwise condensation of the vapor of degassed distilled water on hydrophobic substrate and the filmwise condensation on hydrophilic substrate. A study on effect of substrate wettability on the growth of the condensate drop on various surfaces is presented and compared. Also trend of the variation of the surface temperature for various substrates during condensation is presented.
