This paper specifies, discusses, and offers practical solutions to two transient effects which are caused by the motion of the impeller-blades. These are: 1. Noise generated the passage of the impeller-blades past the volute-tongue, and 2. Instabilities which appear at the inlet of an inducer, at reduced flow-rates and low NPSH.
