A fluid-structure coupling method to perform computations in time domain is proposed for turbomachineries. The cyclic symmetry is applied to both structure and embedding fluid. The unsteady aerodynamic forces are linearized and modeled using a minimum state smoothing method. Their determination is uncoupled from the structural computation. The motion equation is projected on the modal basis for a given phase number, and is solved using a Newmark scheme. This method is applied to a compressor row, and the results are compared with those from frequency computations or from direct coupling simulations.
