Abstract
This paper discusses the effects of different design-parameters on the magnitude of the shutoff head of a centrifugal impeller. It shows, that the observed inconsistencies between existing theories and tests can be eliminated, by considering the angular speed of the liquid contained between the rotating shrouds and the stationary casing.
