Abstract
Various exergoeconomic approaches have been developed in the last 20 years. These approaches include the ones by Frangopoulos, Lazzaretto, Tsatsaronis, Valero, von Spakovsky and their co-workers. The paper discusses exergoeconomic approaches based on specific costs (SPECO), thermoeconomic functional analysis (TFA) and engineering functional analysis (EFA). Simple examples are used to demonstrate the differences among these approaches.
